Abstract

This report aims to simulate Ethernet Over IP (EOIP) technology for customers from PT. ICON + as a temporary media if there is a disruption to the network which results in customers not being able to connect to the network. This report was designed by collecting data obtained through conducting interviews with technicians who were involved in the field, conducting discussions with field supervisors and by reading books, articles and journals. As time went on, there were disturbances that occurred such as fiber optic cable that had been damaged or there was a new policy, namely the fiber optic cable limitation of PT. ICON + so as not to pass the railroad crossing. So a solution is needed so that customers still remain connected with fiber optic lines. The solution is to replace the fiber optic line or replace it with technology Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT). In the process of upgrading it certainly takes time so that temporary access is needed so that customers can still connect to the network by using Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) and applying Ethernet Over IP Tunnel technology.
