Abstract

Society needs in the information field both in the form of voice and data, especially the internet greatly increased in line with rapid technological development, so that a high-speed network for reliable multimedia transmission is needed. To fulfill the society needs fiber optic technology has become the answer of telecommunication companies. Technology used in new pairs internet for PT. Takeda is a GPON that uses passive splitters that can form a point to multipoint network topology so that it can streamline the use of large capacity optical fibers. But in applying the network using this splitter has various ratios along with different damping specifications depending on the use of the splitter ratio. So that required attenuation checking from the beginning of the fiber network until the splitter to fulfill the maximum attenuation standard before proceeding to the customer. The final attenuation value obtained at the installation of the internet for PT. Takeda is -12.9 dbm and added with 1: 8 splitter attenuation of -10.9 dbm to -23.8 dbm. The conclusion is the attenuation is good because it still fulfill the requirements that not more than -25 dbm so that fiber installation can be forwarded to the customer.
