Abstract
Nowadays, technological progress is growing with the development of the times. In this digital age, cities in Indonesia need an urban system that can support the progress of the city. Purwokerto is the capital of Banyumas Regency located in Central Java province with a population of 2015 as many as 249.226 people. The growing number of residents in Purwokerto has been increasing from year to year to make the traffic jam in Purwokerto increasingly high, requiring real-time monitoring so that the city can develop and can solve urban problems effectively and efficiently. To overcome this problem, the city government needs to develop the concept of supervision such as Smart City concept by providing technology infrastructure that is providing free Wireless Fidelity (W-Fi) network in Purwokerto area. For that purpose, Wi-Fi network planning is to plan the placement of Wi-Fi access point (AP) at some point on the road by using an Atoll software with respect to the coverage area and capacity of the road segment. Based on the results that have been done on Tugu Adipura road with 1.8 km2 of area, the result of coverage planning is 1 AP with 501,7 (17.8%) user connected with each user get 28,7 Mbps and coverage planning is 1 AP planning with 81,7 user connected number (18,7%) each user gets 5,98 Mbps. To obtain optimal results in applying the concept of Smart City is used network planning based on capacity (capacity) because the planning based on the capacity to pay attention to the number of residents of the area.
