Abstract

The growing era that followed the progress of increasingly modern technology influences human needs, especially in the field of telecommunications. One of the supporting factors of internet speed is using fiber optic cable transmission media, which is good and right optical fiber connection technique so that it reduces the damping that is too large and can make the internet connection faster. There are two techniques for connecting fiber optic cables, namely splice fusion technique and mechanical splice. Data collection methods used include practical methods that participate in the process of activities carried out while at PT Telkom Access Puwokerto. Interview method to field supervisors and supervisors in the office by asking questions related to the method of connecting fiber optic cables using the fusion splicer method. The literature review method is done by reading and understanding the material of fiber optic connection and the use of fusion splicers. The discussion discussion method discussed how to connect optical fiber by using two different methods. The positive impact of splicing using the splice fusion technique is that the results obtained are more accurate and permanent while the negative effects are rather complicated and time consuming in the connection process. change because the connection using the method is only protected by solitary wrapping. At the time of connecting requires concentration so that the results are good and right in order to allow a small loss. Splicing techniques are needed to support the implementation of the installation of fiber optic links spacing tens to hundreds of meters.
