Abstract

DSL or xDSL network (Digital Subscriber Line) is one of the technologies other than optical fiber technology that has been widely used in various sectors and supports broadband communication services on copper cables that can serve, provide IP and ATM services (Asynchronous Transfer Mode). Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) is a device that functions to combine and separate data signals with telephone lines used to transmit data. The DSLAM device can be placed in STO (Central telephone automatic) and Remote (in the form of a mini DSLAM or outdoor DSLAM). Over time the use of copper cables will be displaced or switched to optical fiber (optical fiber). Copper cables that are no longer used will be cut or pruned. This trimming is carried out at the STO Bantul FDLR with the HUAWEI D500 type. From the results of validation, it can be seen which ports have not been subscribed to or are written "dead". At the time of validation, the results are 22 dead ports. The dead port is then pruned. Pruning is done starting from the input module to the output module to the secondary module that goes directly to ODP. When pruning DSLAM, the DSLAM with medium capacity (100 ports) is used. In terms of system capacity, the DSLAM is adjusted to the number of customer needs. Keywords: Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer, Copper Cable Trimming
