Abstract

Optical fiber acts as a fiber optic light wave guides made of glass or silica with a very small size and light weight (in micro meters) which can deliver information signal in large numbers and the losses are relatively low. The structure of the fiber optic cable consists of a coating, cladding and core. Core or core is what serves to determine the direction of propagation of light in fiber optic cables. While the coating and cladding are useful to protect the core that is easily shattered and broken. Despite the many advantages that there are him does not mean the Optical Fiber Communication Systems (SKSO) do not have a problem. The main problem and most often occurs in optical fibers is the loss of light energy in optical fibers. Basically the loss of light energy in optical fiber is caused by two things: the optical fiber core material (core) were dirty and warped light the wrong way. One cause of the direction of light towards which one is the result of splicing fiber optic cables that are less good. In this practice the author learn about the techniques and methods of splicing fiber optic cables that generate small losses, ie splicing of optical fiber cables in fusion (Fusion Splicing).
