Abstract

The design of Fiber To The BTS Network, especially the Sokaraja area is not evenly distributed, to meet the customer's need for bandwidth, the design of Fiber To The BTS is for the provider needs to increase bandwidth with GPON technology that has been widely used, new technology has been developed to improve the previous technology, namely XGPON. So it was designed Fiber To The BTS using GPON technology by comparing XGPON technology. The design of network design is done by using software optisystem and simulations for power, link budget parameters, Bit Error Rate and Q Factor. In both technologies, parameter simulation with 6 dBm power for the downstream side with the same power link budget simulation results of -17.260 dB and the same calculation results of -14.152 dB, for BER parameters obtained 1x10 -128 for GPON and 2x10 - 29 technology for XGPON technology, for Q Factor parameters obtained 24.1066 for GPON technology and 11.1901 for XGPON technology. On the Upstream side, it uses 3 dB of power by obtaining a power link budget of -20,316 dBm for simulation and 17,152 dB for calculations, for the Bit Error Rate parameter obtaining a value of 6x10 -79 for GPON and 4x10 -38 technology for XGPON technology, in parameters Q Factor obtained a value of 18.7746 for GPON technology and 12.8445 for XGPON technology. In both technologies to obtain results that can be said to be good because the value obtained has met the ITU-T standards. Keyword : Fiber To The BTS, GPON, XGPON.
