Abstract

Satellite communication is communication between two locations that are capable of transmitting geographic information in the form of data and images. Satellite is a repeater that is in space segment in order to catching signals from the earth then sent it back. Indonesia has a very wide geographical location that has thousands of islands that require a satellite to capture all information about Indonesia. Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) has several satellites that are used to monitor the development of Indonesia territory. One of the satellite owned by LAPAN is Landsat-8 satellite is used to observe the surface of the earth and the surface temperature of earth. In the process of receiving data from earth to satellite (uplink) and from satellite to earth (downlink) there are several factors that influence the result of image capture by satellite such as BTS (Baste Transceiver Station), satellite antenna, angle of elevation, azimuth, building and trees.
