Abstract

Development of Communication Technology is directly proportional to the development of antennas that wants antenna with small dimensions but the direction of the antenna beam focused in a particular direction with a good gain value. Radio waves communication systems such as 3G , for optimizing performance the most important part is to add an antenna on the sender and add antennas at the receiver side . The microstrip antenna is an antenna that is being developed in a variety of application . One is on the application for Third Generation (3G) technology using Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA). Planning antenna array has a goal to increase the valueof the gain antenna with good directivity. Antenna result of this design consists of four radiating elements (patches). Simulation results rectangular microstrip antenna array works on the planned operating frequency is between 1920 MHz - 1980 MHz , this antenna has a Return Loss and VSWR value of -18.56 dB and at a frequency of 1950 MHz 1.26 with a maximum gain value of 7,88 dBi. As for the measurement 4 rectangular microstrip antenna array shows the frequency shift of the range 1920 MHz - 1980 MHz being 2008 MHz - 2036 MHz, this antenna has a Return Loss and VSWR of -12.50 dB and a minimum of 1.61 at a frequency of 2025 MHz with the value ofxxvi the maximum gain of 6.12 dBi. This frequency shift caused by the difference in the value of εr in simulation and on the material sused in printing antenna. εr value is inversely proportional to the value of the frequency, the greater the value of εr is generated, then the shift of the frequency value will be smaller. Keywords : Third Generation (3G), Array, VSWR, Gain, Frequency
