Abstract

Increasing the number of user of internet is not matched by a high security system. The data on the network can still be accessed by other people who are in the same network. VPN technology comes and offers data encryption technology so that the data from the sender to the destination safely ensured. To provide efficiency in the data delivery, required a traffic management, such as uses several different queuing theory. In this research the simulations and observations of the VPN application parameters using 3 scenarios which each scenarios use differenet queuing, that is First In First Out (FIFO) Queuing, Priority Queuing (PQ), and Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ). In this research, VPN is applied on WAN Technology. This study aims to determine which one fits queuing theory applied to the VPN network. Simulations carried out using Opnet Modeler Software 14.5. The type of service used is video conferencing, VoIP, FTP, and HTTP. The parameters that is observed are: Delay, Delay Variation, Traffic Dropped, and Throughput. From the results of the simulation, can be seen that WFQ more fits to be applied in VPN network because have the lowest traffic dropped, 847.97 paket/s and the highest throughput, 6834565 bits/s. For video conference, delay and delay variation in WFQ is about 6.08 s and 1.596 s, while in PQ is about 5.848 s and 0.78 s. For VoIP, WFQ Queuing have delay and delay variation about 60.29881 s and 2.71 10-7 s, while in PQ is about 60.298 s and 2.71 10-7 s. Keywords: VPN, FIFO, PQ, WFQ, Opnet Modeler 14.5
