Abstract

Data communication is used to send the information which is form of data through medium called transmission. When the data is transmitted there will be any factors that can cause the data has an error. Related with network architecture, especially in data communication, it is set within the architecture called OSI that consists of seven layers. Layer that carry out the error correction is second layer, that is data link layer. There are several ways to solve these errors, one of them is using Hamming Code. Beforehand already created a simulation error correction software applications based on Visual Basic that is intended for education. However, the previous application is not maximized, because it only can run on a Personal Computer (PC). It takes time for booting and Personal Computer is less efficient for outdoors activities. As developing of telecommunications technology by utilizing the Android operating system in building applications, so error correction simulation has been developed using Hamming Code based on Android. Applications simulation error correction based on Android is more efficient, can be used while doing other activities and do not take long time to boot, and flexible when used indoors and outdoors. The maximum length of the data that is used in simulating error is 8 bits that require 4 bit redundant called check bits, and generates data bits called codeword, the codeword can be simulated from the single bit error location as the user desires. Each error correction process described in language that is easy to be understood, Making it easier for users to learn how the process of error correction using Hamming Code.
