Abstract

Satellite communication system consists of the ground segment and space segment. Ground segment has two functions as tansmitter and receiver. The receiver of ground segment is usually as antennas, one type of antenna is the parabolic dish. Parabolic dish requires LNB as a tools to collect the signal from satellite which is reflected by antenna reflector. LNB C-Band have resistant to bad weather such as weather conditions in Indonesia which has a high rainfall. The use of one LNB can only capture the signal from one satellite only. The use of numerous LNB more than one can capture more signals than the other satelitte according to the amount of LNB used. From the test results, its prove that with using five LNB numbers can capture signals from five target satellite at once. Signal value obtained by antenna will show on DVB-S device with digital broadcast form. The average value of Tekom 1 satellite is the best parameter value compared to the other four satellites, thus with value of C/N with 8,20 dB and BER value 1,10x10-5. This is caused by pointing which is done by turning the parabolic antenna to Telkom 1 satellite as a reference for the other LNB. The greater number of LNB used the weaker intensity of reflected signals received by the parabolic, this is due to the reflection of the signal spread that leads to the outside of the dish antenna that will make LNB can’t receive the signal reflected by the parabolic dish with properly. Thus the value of C / N received will be smaller and the value of BER from system will increase. The smaller value of BER the better performance of the system. Keywords: five LNB, C-Band, BER, C/N, DVB-S
