Abstract

There is a lack of understanding and information about damage to users' computer hardware, so that many users spend quite a bit of money just to repair damaged computer hardware. Therefore, to increase user knowledge and provide understanding and information about computer hardware damage, researchers conducted research on an expert system for diagnosing hardware damage. In this research, a Web-based expert system will be created to diagnose computer hardware damage using forward chaining and certainty factor methods. This system works by carrying out a diagnosis based on the symptoms of damage felt by the user. Then the certainty factor calculation is carried out based on the certainty factor value of each existing symptom. The certainty factor calculation aims to overcome problems in damage diagnosis expert systems, namely uncertainty problems, and forward chaining is used with the aim of making decisions with a forward chain. To build a website system, an expert system for diagnosing computer hardware damage, researchers also use extreme programming methods to speed up website creation. In testing the functionality on this website, a black box is used for testing. Of the 18 features tested, 16 features were declared valid or working well and 2 features were declared invalid or error and the percentage result was 88.88%, the results of this test can be concluded on the expert system website for diagnosing computer hardware damage. can run well.
