Abstract
The Internet network provides many facilities which are used by many companies to maintain the stability of its business activities. Through the Internet, the company can develop and expand its business network. One of the internet-based technology is the Virtual Private Network (VPN), many companies are already using VPN to stay connected with branch offices and other business associates via the internet. . But data security every company is a vital fakotr which is very influential in the business world. The use of VPN networks should be supported with data security protocols such as Internet Protocol Security (IPSec). But with the use of IPSec VPN, will be concerned about impact to the performance of the internet in Hotel Premier Inn. Hotel Premier Inn implement VPN IPSec protocol on its network in order to maintain the security of corporate data and as the complyment of one of the standardization of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The study will analyze the effect of using IPSec on the Internet by using latency and throughput parameters using the ping test. The results of tests performed on Hotel Premier Inn are, the value of throughput using VPN IPSec obtained is smaller than without uses IPSec. The resulting throughput value is 0:52 Mbps is using IPSec and 0.63 Mbps without IPSec uses. In latency value with VPN IPSec, have greater latency than without using of IPSec. The resulting latency value is 130 ms with using IPSec and its 40 ms without an IPSec uses. The results obtained from the use of IPSec that led to a very small decrease in QoS against 2 parameter testing. So the use of IPSec basically does not burden the network performance. By using IPSec performance generated worse than without the use of IPSec. Keywords: VPN, IPSec, Latency, Throughput, QoS
