Abstract

Dense wavlength division multiplexing (DWDM) is a multiplexing technology using several wavelengths transmitted on the single optical fiber, so information can transmitted simultaneosly. DWDM technology can increase the traffic capacity without the addition amount optical cable. However, bending and fo-cut effect to DWDM system. The objective on this research is to analyze DWDM backbone network performance using with observation and calculation methods. Observation uses the troubles data on June, July, and August 2016. Calculations uses parameters such as availability, attenuation, and power link budget. The result show that availability value has not reached 99.999% with range value is 95,3165% - 98,5651%, but the received power more than -30 dBm. Based on three links samples on July 2016, power margin can be used to process of transmission. Obeservation of troubles during three months were 49 troubles dominated by fo- cut. Keywords – DWDM, performance, availability, power link budget, trouble
