Abstract

One of the many backbone networks in Java island, the backbone network of East Java ring with DWDM technology operated by PT. Telkom Indonesia is required to always maintain network performance in order to satisfy the consumers. It is undeniable that as well as any performance that is maintained will not close the possibility of interference in the transmission process using fiber optic on the backbone network. The type of interference that can affect the backbone network, such as broken optical cable, broken module, as well as the occurrence of high attenuation caused by bending on the transmission lines or dirty patch cord. This is the demand to maintain the performance of the fiber optic communication system itself. In this study conducted data retrieval through observation at PT. Telkom Indonesia service operation division. Performance analysis is done by data calculation using power budget parameter, rise time budget, availability and maintainability. From the calculation result during the period of 2016, it is known that the average availability value of 99.416%, the average value of MTTR of 4.47051 hours, indicating the results of availability and maintanability has not met the standards of determination it is necessary to repair the disorder quickly and always take action Preventive. Based on the calculation of power budget there is still margin under the standard set ITU-T of 6 dB. If the resulting margin close to 0 dB can be changed the transmission line. For the value of rise time budget still meets the required system rise time when using minimum dispersion that is below ≤ 70 ps, it is suggested better on a link using dispersion <5 ps / nm-km.
