Abstract

ABSTRACT RoF is a process of transmitting radio signals through fiber optic cables. The multiplexing technique used is Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). OFDM involves high-speed data transmission techniques using multiple carrier signals parallel in the modulation where wireless system users experience a lot of losses in signal transmission and atmospheric attenuation, to overcome these problems are used low-attenuity OFDM-RoF systems and great bandwidth. This research is done by designing OFDM-RoF network scheme by using external modulation on up-conversion mechanism, direct detection method on down-conversion mechanism and using 4-QAM, 16-QAM QPSK, 8-PSK and 16-PSK modulation, Using OptiSystem 14.1 software. This study focuses on digital modulation performance analysis on external modulation with direct detection using 0 dBm power and fiber length of 10 km, 30 km, and 50 km and analysis of spectral form and signal constellation. To know good performance performance, the amplitude value of signal constellation is 18.6158a.u with 4 QAM for 10 km distance and highest amplitude value in signal constellation that is 16 QAM modulation with amplitude value of 54.50 a.u. At Comparison of received power with a distance of 10 km 4-QAM modulation of 80,431 dBm at QPSK of 77,697 dBm at 8-PSK 77.417 dBm and which obtained the highest output power of 16-QAM modulation with power of 85.479 dBm. Higher the modulation used will issuing more power output and longer of fiber length can make an noise were, reduced the amplitude value.
