Abstract
Language laboratory in online system using video conference. Video conferencing is a multimedia application that allows communication of data, sound, and images. But in accessing video conferencing, internet access is needed, so a local video conference based on Raspberry PI will be made as a server. Then a capable device is needed to make a local video conference server to reduce the cost of building a local video conference network. A mini pc is used that does not require a large place to store it and is easy to move, one of the famous mini pc is Raspberry Pi or Raspi is a small computer the size of a card. Using Raspberry PI as a server will make it easier to do video conferencing because Raspberry Pi is mobile. To do local video conferencing requires a sever, accest point and client where the client is a smarthone. a language laboratory is expected to accommodate many users So testing will be carried out on the ability of raspberries, the effect of the number of users on the performance of local video conferencing. The first test by disabling the camera and microphone features resulted in CPU usage with 5 users reaching an average value of 8.1% and when 10 users the value of CPU usage reached 5.4% and when 15 people increased to 5.5%, with a total of 5 users in the meet room memory usage reached 229MB and when it became 10 memory usage reached 330.3MB and in the experiment with a total of 15 357.7MB. The 2nd test of Jitsi meet with the Camera and microphone feature turned on with the number of 5 users who entered the average CPU usage of 40% and the 3rd trial the average rose to 46%, and in the last trial the average CPU usage increased to 52%. RAM memory usage in the first experiment 322.3MB increased when 10 users in the room met to 335.8MB and with the number of users at 15 the average memory usage rose to 345.9MB. In the study, the results obtained the optimal number of 14 users who were in the Jitsi meet room with the camera and microphone features turned off. And when the feature is used the optimal user is 10 users. Keywords : : server, raspberry Pi, Local video conference, CPU, RAM.
