Abstract
This research aims to design an automatic system to monitor and control soil moisture in the cultivation of medicinal plants. Medicinal plants require optimal soil moisture between 60% and 80% for proper growth. Manual watering commonly practiced requires an automatic system that can be remotely controlled via an application or website. The proposed solution involves using the YL-69 sensor to measure soil moisture, the DHT 22 sensor for air temperature, a DC motor-based water pump, an LCD, and a smartphone or web interface. The soil moisture categories measured are dry (0% - <60%), ideal (60% - 80%), and wet (>80%). The research method employs Research and Development, with sensor calibration testing and system testing using the black box software method. This system uses NodeMCU ESP32 as the data control center and the pump as the main actuator for watering. Data is displayed through a website or the Blynk mobile application, with the system automatically stopping watering when soil moisture reaches 70%. The results show that this system is effective in maintaining soil moisture automatically and can be operated remotely through mobile or laptop devices.
