Abstract

Scholarship for poor student program is a government-made program to help students from disadvantaged families finance their educational needs. In the procurement of scholarship for poor student program, there is a phenomenon in which students are financially capable but get a scholarship for poor student. In this research aims to produce Decision Support System that is able to provide recommendation of drop out children who deserve assistance according to criteria by using the method of Fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) so that it can assist decision makers in solving problems that exist in the process selection of scholarship for poor student acceptance based on existing criteria. TOPSIS is a concept where the best alternative not only has the shortest distance from the ideal ideal solution, but has the longest distance from the ideal ideal solution. TOPSIS has advantages including simple and easy to understand concepts, computation is efficient and has the ability to measure the relative performance of decision alternatives in a simple mathematical form. TOPSIS method is widely used to solve the problem of decision making. The results of the research show that TOPSIS method can be used to help give recommendation for giving of drop out children and based on result of calculation of Fuzzy TOPSIS method by Decision Support System The biggest preference value is A21, so A21 is the chosen alternative to be the best alternative.
